Flag Raising Ceremony
Thursday 1st June 2017 was a very memorable and special occasion for our school. Aogán ÓFearghail, President GAA accompanied by Ciarán Brady and Pauric Faulkner (Cavan County Footballers), Susan Doorley, An Taisce and Neasa Mc Donnell and Patrick Rafferty (Cavan County Council Waste Management team) were guests in our school as we raised our 4th Green Flag for the theme of travel and our Junior Entrepreneur flag. Ms. Duignan (Green School Coordinator) and Erin McLaughlin (Chairperson Green School Committee) spoke to the large audience of pupils, parents and members of the community about our great achievement in being awarded our 4th Green flag. Daniel Murphy, 6th class pupil, then explained the Junior Entrepreneur Programme and he reported on the now famous ‘Flour Power Bakery’ business. The two flags were then raised and everybody sang Amhrán na bhFiann with great gusto! As the pupils returned to their classes Aogán visited each class and spoke to all staff and pupils. As always the Parents Association provided a lovely cup of tea and refreshments for everybody. Thank you to all for their help with the ceremony!
