Concern Debating Competition November 2023
Congratulations to our debating team of Ailcia Barr, Ellie Kate McGovern and Willow Gaughan who competed in the Concern debate this morning against Corcreagh NS Shercock. (Photographs attached)
The girls argued their points very well and we are very proud of their efforts. A special mention to their backroom team who helped the girls research and prepare for the debate. After a very interesting and informative debate Corcreagh NS came out on top and even though we are disappointed, it was a very valuable experience for everyone. A special thank you to their class teacher Mr. McHugh for taking on this initiative and giving 5th and 6th the opportunity to learn and develop the important and valuable skill of debating.

Dear Parents and Staff,
As we approach midterm I would like to wish everyone an enjoyable and restful mid term. We have had a very busy few weeks since we returned in August.
Parent Teacher Meetings:
We had our Parent / Teacher meetings this week and we encourage parents to continue to work with the school and your child’s teacher to ensure the best outcomes for your child in our school. Thank you to all parents for attending your meetings and be assured that we are always available to speak with you about your child's progress in school. A special thank you to our 6th class volunteers for helping on the day and their 'cúpla focail' for parents on their arrival.
Trick or Treat for Temple Street
Thank you to all staff, parents and pupils for your generosity for our fundraiser in aid of Temple Street. Money is still coming in so we will have a total for after Halloween.
Swimming:
We are delighted to have swimming / aquatics tuition for 1st to 6th classes in Kells pool starting on Monday 6th November for 6 weeks.
Homework Activity Club
We will commence another 6 week block of Homework activity club on Monday 6th November for 1st to 6th class.
Football/Basketball
We hope to continue Football and Basketball training (for 4th to 6th classes) on Mondays after Halloween. Thanks again to Brendan O'Shea, Mr. McHugh and Mr. Morrissey.
Christmas Hope Shoebox Appeal
It is the time of year to start thinking again about children in poorer countries. Every year we organise to send shoe boxes as part of the Christmas Shoebox Appeal. We will arrange the collection of the shoeboxes shortly after our Hallowe’en break. Many of these children live
on less than €1 per day. The shoeboxes will need to be returned to the school before Thursday 9th November. Thank you.
Finally, I wish you all a happy and safe Hallowe’en.
